My work is hugely inspired by bell hooks and her theory that the best work is done from an ethic of love. After I had my first child just after adolescence, I learned what it meant to have to hustle. I obtained my BSW a handful of years later, but while the theories and skills taught me how to support people in tricky situations, it was that ethic of love, inspired by motherhood, that really fuelled my practice. I went on to get my MSW a few years later, enjoying work in government research and policy, the secondary school system, the not-for-profit sector, academia and health care.

My newsletter, Heart Work, is an offering I make to those who want to explore more about this work but aren’t ready for one on one support.

When I need to step away from the computer, I find a lot of joy in triathlon training. Living on Vancouver Island means that bike rides take me through such beautiful spaces, and I’ve connected with really incredible people and teammates over the years. It shocked my loved ones quite a bit when I qualified for Team Canada in the ITU World Championship Series, and we definitely went out to dinner when the Ironman Corp. sent me a letter to tell me I’m considered by them to be an All-World Athlete.

Life is better when we’re engaged, our curiosity is sparked and we tap into our creativity. Let’s explore your inner sense of wonder and drive.

It’s so nice to meet you!

My private practice is a place where I get to combine my passions in life.

My inner nerd (ok, and 10 years of teaching university students) means I’m always thinking about how theory informs my practice or about how doing this work while going through life transitions of our own changes us over time.

All that deep thinking that you avoid but know is probably good for you? That’s my specialty.

I know how to use these skills and passions to help people manage life transitions with intellect and grace. I can show you how to lean in to your curiosity, creativity and all that beautiful care you have for others.
